The parotid gland has many processes, such as duct process, temporal process, inferior process, processus mastoideus, pterygo-mandibular process, parapharyngeal process and tympano-mandibular process.
These exocrine glands produce a fluid called saliva, which is released, from the parotid gland, submandibular gland and sublingual gland on each side of the mouth.
You probably know there's two salivary glands under your tongue, but most saliva that comes from chomping and tasting is made by the parotid gland, situated between your ear and mouth.
At the same time, the three sets of salivary glands - the sublingual, below the tongue, the submandibular, below the mandible, and the parotid gland, which is near the ear, all secrete saliva to lubricate the food.
